Ukraine's Ministry of Agrarian Policy is initiating a policy to replace imported food products with local produce, starting with fish. The ministry will develop a strategy to shift state procurement towards domestically produced fish, which is currently largely imported. This move is expected to have a positive impact on the country's balance of payments and stimulate the growth of the fish farming industry. The ministry also plans to replace imported hake with Ukrainian carp and white carp in the diet of the Armed Forces, as the chief nutritionist of the Ministry of Health has confirmed that these local fish are nutritionally equivalent to imported hake.
