Record export of potato starch from Ukraine recorded at the end of the 2023/2024 season

Over the past few years, Ukraine has been turning from a starch importer into an exporter, EastFruit reports. During this time, a number of modern enterprises equipped with imported equipment have been built, which process potatoes into starch. The private multidisciplinary enterprise (PME) Vimal is the largest starch producer in Ukraine and has two production sites. “In 2012, we modernized production, installed new foreign equipment and began to produce very high-quality products. It was during this period that starch exports to Southeast Asia began, but they were small. We built a new plant in 2018, its capacity is 600 thousand tons of potatoes per day,” Serhiy Lazar, acting director of Vimal, commented to AgroPortal.ua.
