Last year, Norway saw a significant increase in meat imports, with a total of 25,360 tonnes imported, a rise of almost 11,000 tonnes or 76% compared to the previous year. This means that on average, each Norwegian consumed almost five kilos of imported meat. Pork saw the largest increase, with imports reaching 7,730 tonnes, a record high since the statistics have been kept. This surge is attributed to the corona pandemic, increased domestic population, and reduced border trade.
