Guizhou province in China is the country's largest base for red pepper production and sales, with an annual yield of over 2 million tons in Zunyi city. Red pepper cultivation is a significant source of income for over 400,000 households in the area, particularly in Shanbao village. The favorable climate and high demand make red peppers a valuable crop. As of June 2022, red pepper plantations in Zunyi cover 142,000 hectares with over 50,000 growers.
