Representatives of the Turkish Walnut Association will visit colleagues in California (USA) in June

The California Almond Board will work with the California Walnut Commission to host a delegation from the Turkish Nut Association in June, EastFruit reports citing the California Almond Board. Turkey is one of the countries that the US Nuts Industrial Association is considering as part of its global trade strategy. The Turkish government has reduced tariffs on imported almonds from 1 January 2018 from 43% to 15%; Turkey then imposed retaliatory tariffs of 20% on US almonds after the US announced Section 232 tariffs on imported steel and aluminum. In 2019, Turkey reduced the return tariff by 10%, and it remains so today. The current tariff for American almonds in Turkey is 25%. The United States is the main supplier of almonds to Turkey, which annually imports an average of $160 million worth of almonds (70% core and 30% inshell almonds).
