Requirements for pasta production will be tightened in Russia

Russia plans to tighten the quality requirements for durum wheat pasta. The National Association of Pasta Producers (NAPMI) reported this to the National Agrarian Agency. Now, if the packaging of these products produced since August of this year is marked “group A”, then the minimum content of grain of this type in such products must be at least 95 percent. The presence of soft wheat flour cannot be higher than five percent (previously more than 15). And there should be no food additives there at all. Otherwise, this product does not meet the requirements of GOST, and its labeling will mislead consumers. The corresponding change has been made to GOST 31743-2017 “Pasta products. General technical conditions" by Order of the Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology (Rosstandart). At the same time, the presence and quantitative content of flour in products will be checked not only according to the above-mentioned state standard, but also according to certified methods. ...
