The Vietnam Plant Seed Trade Association (VSTA) and the Department of Crop Production have held a workshop to strategize the development of Vietnam's agricultural sector, focusing on the creation and production of high-yield, pest-resistant plant varieties. This comes as Vietnam becomes the world's leading rice group, with increased income value per unit of cultivated area from 2018-2022, largely due to the introduction of new crop varieties. VSTA businesses have bred and imported hundreds of rice and corn varieties, with 57 new rice varieties recognized as national varieties from 2016-2020, contributing to the elimination of hunger, poverty reduction, and job creation.
