Research on the diversification of oyster farming to respond to climate change in the Gamak Bay area of Yeosu, Jeonnam, is being actively pursued. Recently, the Jeonnam Marine and Fisheries Science Institute announced that the project "Field Application Test Research on Oyster Farming Diversification in Response to Environmental Changes in Yeosu Gamak Bay Area" has been selected as a new business in the 2026 Research and Training Fishery Competition, which is organized by the National Institute of Fisheries Science. The goal of this project is to establish a standard breeding method and create a stable and sustainable oyster production base by applying suitable oyster artificial seeds to the Gamak Bay area in response to high and low water temperatures and other climate changes, and by verifying the technology for breeding high-value triploid oysters.
