Restaurateurs have appealed to the State Duma due to the conditions of selling ready-made food in retail chains.

The Federation of Restaurants and Hoteliers of Russia (FRiO) has sent a letter to the Chairman of the State Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin, requesting the elimination of inequality in the rules for the operation of food service and retail chains, including those selling ready-made food, reports RBC. The press service of the State Duma informed the publication that the appeal has not yet been received. The letter was written against the backdrop of a recently introduced package of amendments to the law on trade in the State Duma, which also concern the activities of HoReCa enterprises. The restaurateurs, according to FRiO President Igor Bukharov, are concerned about the situation where retail chains are actively developing the direction of selling ready-to-eat food and are essentially providing the same services as food service establishments, including the organization of dining areas, but are subject to less stringent norms and requirements than restaurants and cafes.
