Revenue from sugar exports by Brazil drops 33% due to falling prices and total shipments

The combination of falling prices and a reduction in total exports caused revenue from sugar and molasses shipments by Brazil in December 2024 to fall by 33.4%, compared to the same period in 2023. The data was presented this Monday (06) by the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services, through the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex). According to the data released, revenue from sugar and molasses exports during the month of December 2024, in 21 business days, was US$ 1,358,792.0 thousand, with a daily average of US$ 64,704.4 thousand. In December 2023, when this number was 33.4% higher, the amount obtained by the country was US$ 2,040,341.3 thousand, in 20 business days, an average of US$ 102,017.1 thousand per day.
