From January to June of this year, Turkey experienced a significant increase in pistachio exports, with a 136 percent rise compared to the same period in the previous year, totaling $85.43 million. In 2020, pistachio exports amounted to $90.47 million, and in the first half of last year, exports brought in $36.19 million. The exports were made to 105 countries, with Italy, Germany, and Israel being the top buyers. The increase in exports is attributed to a bountiful pistachio season in Şanlıurfa, the city with the highest pistachio production in Turkey. The president of the Şanlıurfa Commodity Exchange Assembly, İsa Kızıldemir, is optimistic that the export figures will continue to rise due to the high quality and abundance of Turkey's pistachio crop.
