Rice planting in Rio Grande do Sul surpasses halfway mark and is expected to conclude by month's end

The Rio Grandense Rice Institute (IRGA) released the latest report from the Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Division (DATER), indicating that Rio Grande do Sul has already sown 528,518 hectares of rice, which represents 57.44% of the total area planned for the 2025/2026 crop. The South Zone continues to stand out as the most advanced region in the state, with 92.84% of the rice area already planted—equivalent to 145,342 hectares. Following closely is the Campanha region, with 78,034 hectares, corresponding to 57.53% of the planting intention. In the Inland Coastal Plain, producers have sown 59.54% of the planned area, totaling 83,642 hectares, while the Outer Coastal Plain accounts for 35,742 hectares, about 37.67% of the projected total.
