In August 2024, Peru experienced a 2.0% increase in paddy rice production, reaching 159,753 tons compared to the same month in 2023. This growth is largely due to favorable weather conditions during the maturation phase of the crop, particularly benefiting the departments of Ucayali, Huánuco, and Amazonas. Other departments like Pasco and Loreto also saw an increase, while production in Junín, La Libertad, Cajamarca, Madre de Dios, Piura, and San Martín decreased. The report from the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) highlights that the overall production was primarily concentrated in Ucayali, Huánuco, and Amazonas, contributing 34.3% to the national total.
