REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - National rice production in 2025 shows a significant surge and marks a major step for Indonesia towards food self-sufficiency. According to the latest data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), rice production from January to December 2025 is expected to reach 34.77 million tons. This figure represents an increase of 4.14 million tons or a 13.54 percent rise compared to the same period in 2024. Deputy for Statistics on Distribution and Services at BPS, Pudji Ismartini, called this increase a significant milestone for national food sovereignty. “The potential rice production from January to December 2025 is estimated to reach 34.77 million tons or an increase of 13.54 percent.
