In the 2024/2025 crop season, the index measured by the National Supply Company (Conab) until April of this year was 12.7% higher than irrigated rice (5.6%), compared to the previous cycle. The average productivity also grew by 5.7%, generating a 19.1% increase in production, reaching 1 million tons. The largest producer of this type of rice is Mato Grosso, where the growth in area had already been recorded in the previous crop season and the estimate for the current one is 17.3%, reaching 112,500 hectares. The cultivation stands out especially in the North of the state, as a viable and profitable second crop alternative, in the crop rotation system, and with new cultivars, such as the recently launched BRS A504CL, from Embrapa, aimed at this type of management.
