Romanian scientists have developed a new variety of cherry tomatoes, named Rhapsody, after 20 years of research. The plant can yield up to 7 kg per plant and can grow up to 5 m tall in greenhouses. The fruit has a unique three-color exterior and a brown flesh, which is tastier and keeps well after harvesting. The plant is also resistant to main pathogens and has few seeds. The variety was obtained using new selection technology, interspecies hybridization, and crossing some types of tomatoes, marking the first time this technique has been used in Romania.
