The Rostov region in Russia has allocated a budget of almost 140 million rubles to support sheep farms, marking a 1.7 times increase from the previous year. This new form of state support aims to prevent a decline in the region's sheep population and preserve jobs in the eastern regions. The funding will be provided as subsidies for the meat production of large and small cattle sold to local processing enterprises. The region is home to 42 agricultural enterprises and 236 farms involved in sheep breeding, with a total of about 940 thousand heads of small cattle. There are 12 breeding organizations in the region that focus on breeding various sheep breeds.
