The RSPCA is calling for an end to non-stun slaughter in the UK after new figures show a 18.5% increase since 2022, with around half a million animals slaughtered without pre-stunning each week. The figures, released by the Food Standards Authority (FSA), show that non-stun slaughter has increased for both halal and Shechita, despite UK legislation requiring all farm animals to be stunned before slaughter. The RSPCA is advocating for a change in the law and is also campaigning for a ban on exporting non-stunned meat from the UK.
