The share of imported salt has increased in Russia

Russia's salt supply is primarily sourced from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Iran, with Belarus and Kazakhstan being the main contributors. The rise in salt imports is due to challenges in providing wagons for domestic product transportation and retail policy issues. To address this, United Russia and the Ministry of Industry and Trade are drafting a bill to establish quotas for domestic salt in retail, as salt is a crucial part of the Food Security Doctrine.
