By the end of 2025, over 30 regions in Russia will receive reimbursement for part of the costs for implementing measures to develop genomic selection in livestock breeding. The order to allocate 264.5 million rubles (approximately 2.9 million euros) for these purposes was signed by the Chairman of the Government, Mikhail Mishustin. This decision will contribute to strengthening Russia's food security. The measures for developing genomic selection include conducting molecular genetic expertise on breeding young cattle. This allows obtaining information on the authenticity of the origin of breeding young animals and the absence of genetically determined diseases in animals, as well as determining their breeding value. The rules for co-financing the costs of developing genomic selection in livestock breeding were approved by the government in August 2025.
