Russia and Turkmenistan have signed a memorandum to develop cooperative fisheries management and conservation of aquatic biological resources in the Caspian Sea. The memorandum is based on the 2014 Agreement on the conservation and rational use of aquatic biological resources of the Caspian Sea. It includes collaboration in aquaculture development, conservation of fish stocks, prevention of illegal fishing, research in fisheries, and training of specialists for the fishing industry, with a particular focus on sturgeon species conservation.
