Uzbekistan exported 1,087 tons of lemons to Russia in the first six months of the current year, according to data from the republic's statistics committee.
According to its data, the country sent 1,908 tons of lemons abroad for $3 million. This figure increased by 127 tons, or 7.1%, compared to the same period last year.
Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan are in second and third place for lemon imports, with 734 and 82 tons respectively.
In April, the Chairman of the Presidium of the Association of Retail Companies (AKORT, which unites major Russian retailers), Stanislav Bogdanov, told TASS that Turkey and Uzbekistan remain the largest suppliers of lemons to Russia. They account for up to two-thirds of the total import volume.
