Russia in 2022/2023 agricultural year became the largest importer of cherries and peaches from Turkey

According to the results of the 2022/2023 agricultural year, the Russian Federation is the leader in the purchase of cherries, peaches and nectarines in Turkey, follows from a review of the Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) of the US Department of Agriculture. Referring to Trade Data Monitor data, the authors of the review report that in the 2022/2023 agricultural year, the Russian Federation imported 25.169 thousand tons of cherries from Turkey against 23.117 thousand tons a year earlier. Moreover, the share of Russian purchases exceeded 40% of total exports from Turkey, which amounted to 57.915 thousand tons (70.948 thousand tons a year earlier). In addition, last season the Russian Federation imported 153.352 thousand tons of peaches and nectarines from Turkey against 118.409 thousand tons a season earlier.
