The Russian Ministry of Agriculture, under Minister Dmitry Patrushev, has acknowledged that the level of export support provided in 2020 was overdone. To correct this, the government has eliminated the reimbursement of transportation costs for certain exports like grain, sugar, potatoes, buckwheat, and bottled sunflower oil. The government's focus for 2021 will shift to supporting exports of high-value added products, following the example of Turkey. In 2020, 38 types of agricultural products were approved for export to 24 countries, with the export of niche products like Russian ice cream and honey expanding to more countries.
