In 2024, Russian agriculture achieved a milestone by reducing its reliance on amino acid imports, a crucial component of compound feed, by half to 50%. This reduction was possible due to the commencement of domestic methionine production in Tatarstan and a decrease in imports from China and EU countries. The country's compound feed production rose to 36.4 million tons in 2024 from 34.2 million tons in 2023, with the majority of this production being used for poultry and pig farming, thereby meeting 90-95% of the domestic needs of livestock farming. However, the government plans to address the lack of domestic production of vitamins, enzymes, and prebiotics to fully tap into the industry's potential and support small farms.
