From January to August of this year, Russia significantly increased its agricultural exports to Sudan, with wheat supplies rising by 22% to 700 thousand tons valued at $148 million, and sunflower oil exports experiencing a 24% increase to 43 thousand tons worth $30 million. Despite these growth figures, Sudan's trade balance for food products remains in deficit as the country relies heavily on imports for basic agricultural products. Currently, Russia is the primary supplier of wheat and sunflower oil to Sudan, though India leads in overall agricultural product exports to the country, predominantly through sugar. There is potential for Russia to double its exports to Sudan across a range of products, including wheat flour, sugar, yeast, rice, and sugar confectionery, as per the Federal Center "Agroexport."
