Russian fishermen are experiencing a successful season as they have harvested over 70,000 tons more pollock in the Far Eastern Fisheries Basin compared to the same period last year, bringing the total catch to over 620 thousand tons. The Sea of Okhotsk has seen a significant increase in pollock mined, particularly in the Kamchatka-Kuril and Western Kamchatka subzones. The fishing season is being closely monitored for scientific purposes, ensuring sustainable practices. Additionally, the catch volumes for herring and cod are nearing those of the previous year, with herring seeing an expected increase in vessel numbers. The season is showing positive results for these fish species, with over 82.7 thousand tons of Pacific herring and 33.3 thousand tons of cod harvested so far.
