Russian fishermen have seen a 13% increase in pollock catch in the first two months of 2023 compared to the same period in 2022, reaching 523 thousand tons. Over 80% of this was caught in the Sea of Okhotsk. The end of the fishing season is expected to see an increase in catch to around 750-800 thousand tons. The production of frozen pollock and deep processing products has also seen an increase, with pollock surimi driving the growth. The production of pollock fishmeal has increased by 20%.
