The Association of Russian Gardeners has approached the Prime Minister of Moldova with a request to limit apple imports from the country to Russia, citing unfair competition and a disadvantageous position for Russian producers. This follows the resumption of Moldovan apple imports by Russia's agricultural watchdog, Rosselkhoznadzor, despite concerns over potential re-exporting of Polish apples. Russian producers are struggling with increasing production costs and stagnant selling prices, and the issue of import restrictions during harvest seasons has been highlighted but not yet resolved.
