Safra Plan Releases R$78.2 Billion for Family Agriculture

The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) announced this week the guidelines for the 2025/2026 Harvest Plan, with a record volume of R$ 78.2 billion exclusively destined for the National Program for Strengthening Family Agriculture (Pronaf). The package of measures reinforces support for basic food production, agroecological transition, and the inclusion of women and youth in the countryside. According to data released by Mapa, there has been a 47.5% increase in resources since the beginning of the current government. The new harvest also brings lower interest rates, with emphasis on basic food basket items such as rice, beans, milk, and vegetables, which will have financing with an annual rate of just 3%. Products from socio-biodiversity and agroecology, such as açaí, Brazil nuts, and organic products, will have an even lower rate of 2% per year.
