The expected catch of Pacific salmon this year is projected to be just 880 tons, a quarter of the average catch, due to a predicted low supply of Anadyr chum salmon. The Pacific branch of FSBI TINRO recommends restrictions to preserve the population and has already implemented a ban on industrial fishing and specific days for traditional and amateur fishing in the Anadyr Estuary. The district government plans to hold meetings with Chukotka residents to explain the reasons behind the restrictions.
