The Czech Republic's State Veterinary Administration (SVS) and Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (SZPI) have conducted inspections on imported poultry meat and eggs, leading to the discovery of Salmonella in samples from Ukraine and Brazil. As a result, the distribution of the contaminated products has been halted, and in one case, over 11,000 pounds of Brazilian chicken was seized. SZPI is emphasizing that operators are primarily responsible for the safety and quality of food. Meanwhile, Romania's National Veterinary Sanitary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA) has also monitored grain imports from Ukraine, identifying nine non-compliances. Due to concerns about Russian invasion and the economic impact on local producers, an European regulation has temporarily halted imports of certain Ukrainian crops to several countries, including Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia, until early June.
