Brazil is the second largest buyer of cod in the world, second only to Portugal. Consumed especially during festive periods, such as Easter, the dish carries a series of curiosities along with its unparalleled flavor. One of them is that, despite having become a tradition on Portuguese tables, it is native to the cold waters of Norway. In an interview with Link News, Stela Conte, a veterinary consultant for the Norwegian Fisheries Council, explains that, in reality, what is conventionally called cod can correspond to different species of fish after a salting process.
