The Regional Government of San Martín, Peru, is taking steps to reactivate land damaged by strong winds that affected corn plantations in the district of Papaplaya. They have distributed a ton of certified hard yellow corn seed to help restore production and benefit those affected. This initiative is part of a corn cultivation training event and is in agreement with the district municipality of El Porvenir - Pelejo. The region has over 44 thousand hectares of hard yellow corn cultivation, but faces low yield levels, with the new variety of marginal hard yellow corn 28 having an average yield of 8-10 tons per hectare.
