São Paulo wins its 10th geographical indication: honey from the Paraíba Valley

The National Institute of Industrial Property (Inpi) published on Tuesday (26) the recognition of the Geographical Indication (GI) of the Paraíba Valley. The seal benefits 39 municipalities in the region and is the 10th GI of the State of São Paulo. The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) promotes this market differential for products with recognized origin and supports the process since the beginning, about three years ago. According to Francisco José Mitidieri, fiscal auditor of the Superintendence of Agriculture and Livestock in the State of São Paulo (SFA-SP), the structuring and promotion work of this GI, in the form of an indication of origin, began through an agreement involving Sebrae-SP and the Federal Institute of São Paulo, with the support of the superintendence.
