Saudi Arabia's semi-annual report projects a rise in wheat production to 1.5 million tonnes in 2023-24, with domestic consumption expected to grow at an annual rate of 4%. Russia, EU-27, and Brazil are the primary wheat suppliers. Corn consumption is also on the rise, reaching 4.54 million tonnes in 2023-24, with Brazil, Argentina, and the United States being the main suppliers. Imports for corn and barley, primarily used for animal feed, are projected to increase significantly in the coming years due to Saudi Arabia's ambitions for self-sufficiency in poultry meat and dairy products.
