One year ago, in April 2024, the massive Acon Timber sawmill was inaugurated in the province of Corrientes. That event somehow marked the return of large investments in the forestry sector, as this plant has an annual processing capacity of 200,000 cubic meters of wood, which is equivalent to 15% of the total national supply. A year later, we met with Álvaro Rey Goitia, an employee of that company, at the dairy expo Todo Láctea held in Esperanza. The logical question was why they were there, given the distance between activities. And so we stopped to talk with him. The new sawmill located in Virasoro belongs to a European group called HS Timber, which comes from Austria.
