SberMarket, an online grocery delivery service affiliated with Sberbank, conducted a study on consumer preferences, revealing that fruits, vegetables, dairy products, cereals, meat, and fish are the most purchased items. The research also highlighted some trends in purchasing behavior, such as a higher sales of alcohol on Mondays and longer shopping times for women. Despite the increase in Russian consumer optimism in the second quarter of 2021, as per Nielsen IQ, 71% of Russians continue to save, with the majority of them cutting back on entertainment, clothing, dining out, and vacations. In June, SberIndex reported a slight decrease in household spending in Russia for the first time in 2021 by 0.37%, indicating a potential pause in the rapid recovery of consumer demand.
