Banana prices in the North of Santa Catarina have surged in October, with the first quality dwarf selling for R$ 2.50/kg and coastal silver at R$ 2.42/kg, marking a significant increase of 150% and 142% respectively from the previous year. This price hike is attributed to a reduced supply and lower fertilization due to high costs. Producers anticipate that the high prices will persist in November, as the supply is expected to remain low.
