A collaborative effort by researchers, scientists, meteorologists, saffron producers, and the Denomination of Origin Saffron of La Mancha is investigating the cause of a significant drop in saffron flowering for the second year in a row, leading to a decrease in harvest. This issue has hit the sector hard, prompting a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture, Water and Rural Development to discuss potential solutions and financial aid. The sector seeks administrative support, with two aid lines announced, totaling 500,000 euros, to bolster marketing channels and producer groups. The saffron from La Mancha is also being associated with the regional quality mark Campo y Alma to reinforce the double quality guarantee for consumers.
