The Sebrae of São Paulo launched a pioneering environmental project in the Paraíba Valley with the aim of boosting sustainability in beef cattle farming, which has a direct impact on reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The project, developed in partnership with the Association of Beef Cattle Producers (Aprocorte) and rural syndicates, introduces a carbon calculator that allows the producer to identify and measure the potential for carbon production, as well as improve processes on the farm. The initiative, which has the support of entrepreneurs and cattle consultants, aims to take the producer from the national average of 0.7 animal units per hectare (AU/ha) and bring them to levels of 2.3 to 2.4 AU/ha, through the intensification of production.
