(Seoul=Yonhap News) Reporter Lee Ui-jin = Sejong University announced on the 5th that a research team led by Professor Im Tae-gyu from the Department of Food and Life Sciences has scientifically identified the mechanism by which a component in Korean ginseng alleviates hair loss. According to Sejong University, a paper by the research team analyzing the component 'ginsenoside RF' in Korean ginseng has been confirmed for publication in the international academic journal Industrial Crops and Products. This journal is a renowned publication in the field of agriculture. The research team found through animal experiments that the experimental group, which was administered the component, showed significantly faster hair growth cycles, and an increase in the number, size, and thickness of hair follicles, according to Sejong University. The research results showed that the component reduces the stability of androgen receptor proteins, thereby alleviating the hormonal signaling that causes hair loss. Professor Im Tae-gyu said, "This is an example that proves the scientific value of the unique components of Korean ginseng and will be an important basic data for future hair loss prevention and functional material development," and added, "We plan to expand the practical application possibilities through additional clinical trials."
