The Seminar was organized by the Rural Society and Umuarama City Hall and by the IDR-Paraná region, with the support of the State Department of Agriculture and Supply (Seab), Copel, Sanepar, FAEP/Senar System, Federation of Rural Workers (Fetaep) , Unioeste, CEPEA and the Brazilian Association of Cassava Starch Producers (ABAM). Several authorities attended the opening of the event. The president of ABAM, who facilitated two of the three lectures at the Seminar, Valter de Moura Carloto congratulated the organizers of the event for the initiative. He recalled that ABAM's objective is to promote the development of cassava culture throughout its chain. Carloto said that the “bottleneck” in the sector is harvesting, which is not yet mechanized.
