Peru: Senasa establishes new sanitary requirements for importing bovine semen from Brazil

By means of Directorial Resolution No. D000034-2024-Midagri-Senasa-DSA, the National Agrarian Health Service (Senasa) has approved new sanitary requirements for the importation of frozen bovine semen from Brazil. Likewise, it also repealed Directorial Resolution No. 0013-2022-Midagri-Senasa-DSA. The importation of bovine semen must be as follows: Frozen bovine semen will be covered by a sanitary certificate issued by the competent official authority of Brazil, which states compliance with the following requirements: Either of them carried out from blood samples, the first no less than 30 days prior to the date of semen collection and the second no less than 90 days after the indicated date; or, the semen comes from a donor bull that had a semen sample from each export batch as negative to PCR; or, a frozen semen sample from each batch (collected from a donor bull on the same date) to be exported must be subjected to PCR or viral isolation testing.
