Seocheon Western Fisheries Cooperative Releases 220,000 Blue Crabs

The Seocheon West Fisheries Cooperative (Chairman Choi Dong-hwan) recently held a blue crab seed release event near the east breakwater of Hongwon Port in Seomyeon, Seocheon-gun, Chungnam, to restore blue crab resources and increase local fishermen's income. The event was attended by approximately 40 people, including New Seocheon Thermal Power, local fishermen, and cooperative members, who released around 220,000 young blue crabs into the sea. The released crabs were healthy seedlings over 1cm in carapace width, carefully introduced into waters with carefully considered water depth and current conditions to enhance natural adaptability and survival rates. Chairman Choi Dong-hwan stated, "Blue crabs are a representative species of Seocheon, and without preserving marine resources, the sustainability of local fisheries could be threatened.
