The Seychelles Fishing Authority (SFA) has decided to reduce the lobster fishing season from three to two months due to data showing that lobsters are being harvested before they reach maturity size. This could negatively impact the stock's reproduction. The decision will be based on the size of lobsters caught during the current season. Despite the potential illegal fishing, SFA does not plan to reduce the number of licenses issued this year. In fact, they will increase enforcement and impose fines or license revocation for those caught without a valid license, and also for those who buy or serve illegally caught lobsters.
