In the first ten months of this year, Vietnam's basa fish exports to the European Union amounted to 149 million USD, a year-on-year increase of 3%, with October's exports alone reaching 15 million USD, a year-on-year decrease of 11%. The Netherlands is the largest purchasing region in the European Union, with Vietnam's basa fish exports to the Netherlands amounting to 3.4 million USD in October, a year-on-year decrease of 2%, while Germany holds the second-largest purchasing position in the European Union, with exports amounting to 3 million USD, a year-on-year decrease of 32%. Spain's purchasing power is strong, with exports in October increasing by 75%, while exports to Belgium increased by 1%, with exports to Belgium in the first ten months increasing by 19%. With the European Union's white fish supply becoming increasingly tight, Vietnam's basa fish has multiple competitive advantages: affordable prices, stable raw material supply, and high adaptability to various processing needs. The Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) stated that the European Union consumers' preferences are shifting towards convenient and high-value-added products, which provides opportunities for Vietnamese exporters to expand their product lines such as breaded basa fish, ready-to-eat products, and high-quality fish fillets.
