On June 2, officials from Vietnam's Plant Quarantine Sub-Department of Region 7, Customs, and Border Guard, along with their Chinese counterparts, met to discuss the streamlining of fruit export procedures at the Huu Nghi International Border Gate. The talks aimed at coordinating phytosanitary measures to expedite clearance, focusing on fresh fruits exported to China, including lychee and other types. Due to the lack of phytosanitary agreements for eight out of nine exported fruits, 100% inspection is currently required, resulting in long delays. The meeting concluded with an agreement to explore the possibility of setting up a joint quarantine mechanism to improve efficiency and adapt to the challenges posed by COVID-19.
