President Joko Widodo of Indonesia is pushing for the development of an integrated industry near corn farming areas to help stabilize corn prices and make better use of excess harvest. The current surplus has led to a drop in corn prices for farmers. Jokowi suggests processing crops directly in their locations to reduce transportation costs, and is advocating for downstreaming activities such as the production of animal feed, corn oil, and corn cooking oil to help stabilize prices and provide more value to farmers. This approach is particularly important in areas where corn harvest is plentiful, including Sumbawa Regency, Dompu, and Gorontalo Province.
