The Secretariat of Agriculture and Rural Development (Sader) has revised the commercial shrimp fishing ban dates in the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. The new ban period will be from August 14, 2024, to September 5, 2024, affecting regions from Tamaulipas to Veracruz, as well as Campeche, Tabasco, and Contoy Island in Quintana Roo. This adjustment aims to protect shrimp populations by allowing them to recover during critical life cycle periods, demonstrating a commitment to balancing commercial fishing activities with marine conservation.
